"Palaruvi" which means 'stream of milk' is known for the picturesque waterfall in the place. Palaruvi is 75 km away from Kollam (Kollam-Shenkottah road). The water that gushes down a 300 feet high stone to form the waterfall that would make the viewer think that weather he is watching really water or milk.
The water lavishly bubbles down with a white dash and a hiss caused by a natural stir up that gives the fall a milky color, thus due to that water fall the place got name as Palaruvi.
Palaruvi waterfall nestled inside thick forests on the high ranges off Thenmala in Kollam district. Palaruvi is located close to Kerala's boarder with Tamilnadu. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala. It is a favorite spot for tourist as well as local. The journey to the Palaruvi through the dense tropical forest is a mesmerizing experience.
The surrounding blue hills and green valleys form a stunning backdrop to the milk white rupture of bubbles that resounds through the otherwise serene virgin forest. Any one who visit here one time will never going to forget the cool shower.
Ayurvedic physicians sometimes prescribe a bath in the waters of Palaruvi, because the water is said to be medicated as it flows down from the forest and is said to be a preventive for many diseases.
